Magic

Just a quick post, because it is so hot in this room today!!
Miss M was fascinated with her first sparkler on Guy Fawkes Day. In New Zealand we can still buy fireworks. Every year there is debate about it and I'm sure it wont be many years before only public displays will be allowed. But in the meantime there is nothing quite like the magic of a sparkler!

I used the sketch from Sketches with a Twist (use texture paste/paint)

I have used some more of the goodies in the November kit from Frosted Designs (love that punched star paper) and am putting this layout into their Fabulous Friday 11 item Challenge.

Off to find a breeze and a cold drink!!
Cheers,
Sue :)

Noted

Firstly the story behind this layout! Jeff was heading over to Sydney  and Aimee asked him to pop into Myers and get a couple of nice things for Blake. She said she was really wanting a couple of Bonds sleepsuits. So, Jeff rocks up and as he is going past the shoe dept, he sees some very cute Baby Nikes. (Jeff loves shoes!!). He carries on up to the childrens wear and is mind boggled at so much stuff!. After a few minutes he notices a security person is watching him. He thinks with all the Mum's and bubs around he probably thinks he is a pervert!! Consequently, he leaves with nothing, heads back to the shoe dept and buys the expensive baby Nikes!! He went home very pleased with himself.

I used the sketch from Week 2 at Let's Get Sketchy

and the tic tac toe board, #4 at 1-2-3 Get Scrappy
(bird, circle, buttons)

I have used products from the Frosted Designs November Kit. I haven't bought a kit for a very long time, but I loved the colours and papers -the whole look of the kit! And I love it! So, if you are looking for a great kit that is suitable for boys and girls and plenty of stuff for at least 4 or 5 layouts, check it out, here. I have already used it for a sweet little girl's layout, but I am using it for a Sketchabilities DT  reveal, so will have to wait until Nov 30th to post it! But here is a sneeky peeky!

Cheers,
Sue :)

Rock a Bye Baby

When I saw this months sketch challenge at Scrapfriends, I thought "Oh my goodness! What am I going to do with this? Probably NOT feathers!!)
Then my daughter-in-law sent me this pic of my cutie grandson, taken by a photographer friend of hers (Karleena Lincoln Photography -for any Rodney girls who read my blog and want a great baby/family photographer).
And the feathers in the sketch suddenly took on a new appeal! A nest and feathers!
I had just bought a few Graphic 45, Mother Goose Collection, papers from Scottie Crafts as well, because I thought they had some good 'baby boy' papers!
So here it is!
The sketch:

And the layout:

Have a great weekend!

Best Friends

Miss M just loves their dog, Frank. He sits next to her when she is playing and she climbs all over him and giggles with delight whenever he is racing around chasing a ball or playing with Dad.

I have used this month's cool sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.
I am also putting this into the gallery of another challenge blog that I have just recently found (via Sarah's blog), 123 Challenge blog (even though I realised after doing it that it is not eligible for the draw as it is a sole challenge), but I want to acknowledge that, for my layout, I did use their criteria of 1.Colour,Teal, 2.Word ,Cool, 3.Technique, Stamping.

Cheers,
Sue :)

Scottie Crafts cracker fun

Hope you are all having a 'cracker time' !!! I am loving seeing the amazing DT crackers and cant wait to see  more over the next few days!
Meanwhile, a little more inspiration!

Some instructions:

Cut a tube into a 4" and 2x 2" pieces and tack onto your cardstock or paper with a gap of about 1".
To make the crease - lightly brush some water around the paper to soften it, crumple it a little and push the ends into the centre.

Cut a rosette from the Tim Holtz Snowflake Rosette and a smaller one from the Mini Snowflake Rosette
Run a strip of TH paper tape or other washi tape along the back of the rosettes, so that when you fold them, they dont split.
Grab a favourite Christmas stamp and randomly stamp.
Form rosettes. (I use a hot glue gun) Using a dauber, brush the edges with  Evergreen bough Distress ink (or a colour to match your chosen patterned paper). Spray with Perfect Pearls to give a lovely sheen.

The patterned paper I have used is from the Graphic 45 Twelve Days of Christmas paper.
Layer up your rosette and add ribbons and bling!

Don't forget to check Scotties blog tomorrow for the next cracker and clue!
Have fun !!
Cheers, Sue :)
